    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a suitable bag for my FZ5.

I like the look of the Lowepro Nova range, but can't determine whether to get the Mini AW or the 1 AW (internet purchase is the only option - none local to me).

I'd like to have the option of stowing the FZ5 fitted with the flower hood as well as being able to carry it loose. It would be useful also to have room for a pair of Minolta Activa 8x25 binoculars (which are small).

Does anyone here use the FZ5 with either of these sizes? Any opinions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks seany!

Anything would be a bonus as I'm buying 'blind'.

The problem(?!) is that the FZ5 is quite small. The width of the Mini AW seems to suit the camera better, but I can't gauge whether or not the bins would fit along with the hood. The 1 AW would be the safer choice for getting all items in, but would the FZ5 be a bit 'lost' (and unsupported) inside?

Well mine will be too big (but it's too small for me) for you. But is the aw 1 just the same build as the aw 2?

I'm not sure but if it is well this is how it looks inside, it has two cushions that can be moved with velcro to keep your camera snug..i'll take some more if you want to see all round the back it's no problem

From what I can glean from Lowenpro's website it is - even the Mini

    Nova 1 AW

    Nova 2 AW

    Nova Mini AW

Thanks for taking the time to do them!

I think I'm already sold on the actual bag itself - I just have to decide on which size. I'm guessing its better to opt for the larger 1 AW rather than find that all my sfuff won't sqeeze in the Mini (and I'm bound to find more bits and pieces...).

From your photo it appears that there is 'full height' velcro on both long inside faces. I suppose I could rig something up using velcro that'll form a snug fit around the camera if I wanted.

I agree on both counts (definitley funky, but they just dont do it for me I'm afraid...

Back to the Lowepros; did you find that the 'filling' has settled at all with use?
That is, are the catalogue internal dimensions accurate? Are they 'over stuffed' when new?

    (This is hard to explain...)

What I'm trying to say is, if the 1 AW inside width is quoted as 4" for example, in reality (with all it's puffy protection), would it actually measure say 3.5" (if you see what I'm getting at...).

    Thanks seany for all this.

I can't say it's changed to be honest. Only that i know it's now too small for me, it's very sturdy. I'd go in to jessops ect when you have time and try it out mate. I can tell you one thing, buy bigger then you think you need...

I know i have to think about lenses flash guns ect (i have a dlsr) but it's funny how thinks mount with any camera, you might want to stick a small book in say or a lens converter ect

I've already scoured my local Jessops for candidates - there wasn't much of a 'quality' selection to be honest.

    Absolutely right.

Bearing that in mind I think I'll go with the 1 AW and 'grow' into it.

    Thanks seany for your input.

I'm not sure but I think that Mini AW and 1AW have different shoulder straps -1AW has padding while MiniAW is just a nylon band.

    Thanks for that SnowCat,

According to Lowepro's site, the current Nova range have a pressed-foam shoulder strap - even down to the Micro AW version.

    BUT

In reality (now having seen them in the flesh), the curved foam shoulder piece as you rightly say appears on the 1AW model and above only.
