I have decided to take the plunge and purchase a Panny FZ20. The best price I have found is around the £330 mark. I will also be looking to get a soft case for it....

Has anyone found a store thats advertising it for less and what case would any current owners recommend??? I want it to be a nice snug fit.

    Thanks in advance...

    Pete. :hiya:

Pete where have you found the panny for that price?
I'm waiting on my local jessops to receive stock but have been given a price of £351.

Does anyone know if the camera is capable of taking a 1GB SD card, looking at the specs it appears to be limited to 512mb.

I managed to get my local Jessops to price match to £339.00 in October last year. It was an internet company that were advertising at this price but I can't remember which one!! (not much help there then!)
Have you tried a price comparison on "Kelkoo?"
Once I had found the price, a swift phone call to my local branch confirmed stock and they did ask me who the internet company were. Once I had told them they confirmed the price match.
I am currently using a "Mexino" soft case which came with a "starter kit" from Internet camera's direct. It was part of a package I purchased for my daughters camera but the FZ fits in there snug as a bug in a rug with just enough room for a spare batt and card.

That's a great price Pete and I honestly don't think anyone will find a better deal anywhere.
Go for it......great camera and you won't be disappointed.

    You bet!!!!

Can't wait, I have suffered long enough with a 3*zoom compact and this camera at first seemed too good to be true. However, I have seen so many personal reviews that I am now convinced that this camera will satisfy my amateur abilities!!!

Have you checked out the FZ3 at £199.99. Awesome camera with many qualities of FZ20 but much smaller. 12x Leica optical stabilized zoom too. There is a thread running on on this forum and on several other sites as this price is so amazingly good. Buyers been very happy with it.

I wonder if there is anything worth spending more on at the moment, other than going for a decent DSLR like the Canon 300D, which is also being replaced by a more expensive camera.

Yes I've seen the FZ3 deal and it represents awesome value. But 3 megapixels doesn't really light my bunsen, which is why I am going to get the FZ20. I was also really temted by the Olympus 8080 but if I was going into the £450 'ish' price bracket I would have bought the 300d instead. I guess it's a case of what ever you feel that you will be happy with and 5mp is really a minimum for me.

These were listed somewhere last week for £220-ish and with some new ones in the pipeline it might be wise to just wait a wee while.

My FZ3 will accept a 1GB SD card, so the odds are that the FZ20 definately will.

Have you tried your local "Jessops" for a price match?
They did it for me down to £339.00 with an internet company, and that was 4 months ago.
They should come down a bit more by now.
    Just a thought

Yes I did and the Jessops warehouse has 66 units on back order...so they currently have their 'stock finger on their **** instead of their pulse'. They would price match....if your prepared to wait for the stock.

Shows what a great camera this is, and how it has taken off.
Good luck Pete, hope you don't have to wait too long

Jessops price matched the internet for my 1gb sd car. £50!

It does work with the FZ20.

One word of warning. Don't take the card in and out with the camera on, I found out it may corrupt the images on the card (this has only happened once though)

I use a small "Hexino" soft case if I am just going out with the camera. Very cheap but just the right size for a nice snug fit.
I also bought from Argos ( ) a nice sized holdall that will carry quite a bit of gear along with the camera obviously and this has a decent size tripod hidden in a special compartment at the bottom.
Perfect for taking away on holiday or if I am going out with the camera to take some nice "scenic" or night time shots.
It only cost about £25.00 and is perfect for what I need it for,
    Rob

My FZ20 arrived while I was away last week. I imported it from Hong Kong and in total including VAT and clearance fees it worked out cheaper than local and only took 5 days from ordering to receipt.

www.digitalrev.com - they are also on ebay.

I got the camera, soft case, mini tripod (woo hoo), 1gb SD card and spare battery for £380 delivered. THe instructions are in english and it comes with a mains adapter. DigitalRev also have a uk based customer service line for any problems.

Nice little camera, the stabiliser is amazing and lense looks to be very good so far.
