Fuzzy picture from SKY Pany PWD 6

Hi people,

Hopfully someone can help, i have Panasonic PWD6 42" plasma screen with the TUTP600 tuner box. Now my problem is the picture is great watching DVDs via a QED component cable, but watching TV / SKY using an RGB connection (QED SQUART Fully Wired Scart) the picture looks crap, watching the Egland match today and the player on pitch had a fuzzyniess around them. I thought buying the better cables the pictures quality would get better but i appears worse. The SKY box is set to RGB output and infact the normal TV ariael signal is slightly nicer image than the scart. Any ideas what could be wrong here, i dread to think this normal???

Most likely source of the problem is the scourge of the PW6, the tuner box. They should be piled in a heap and burned, the lot of them. Simply awful. If you were to stick the media box on Ebay, and equip your screen with a component video card, and get a JS Technology RGB to VGA box for sky, I'd think both DVD and sky pictures will get an enourmous hike. It's slightly more complex if you have speakers on the plasma, you'd need audio connections too,, but it's a small price to pay. I daresay someone will give you £150-200 for the box, which will cover the cost of the card and the converter, and you will still need that scart cable anyway, and some BNC to phono adapters will sort the component connection.

The picture on the BBC was horrific today, the Scotland game on Sky sports looked vastly better.

Glad you said that boys, I was thinking I wished I hadn't sold my HD6 today whilst watching the game! As long as it annoyed you too Mr.Hill that is alright! ;)

And what is going on with ITV, on Sky I reckon it os probably the worst channel now! Is it any better on freeview?

And yeah, what MAW says, get rid of that bloody tuner box, it cripples what is an awesome screen!

Totally agree, really bad on BBC but Sky was very good.
I have the TH37PW7 & I have access to the tuner box (although I don't currently use it!), yesterday during half time on the footie I switched between the scart board and the tuner box & watched the second half, not much to tell between them on initial swap but noted that because you cannot resize the screen with the tuner box that the whole image was overscanned (the BBC logo and score were closer to the top of the sceen etc) when I dropped back to scart board drect......."ping" the image was sharper and more 3d like expecially on Sky, although still showed up the rubbish bbc pic, defo improvement though IMO

What you'll find is that the RGB to Plasma VGA unit will give you sharper cleaner image still. It's making use of the best input on the screen, the VGA.

As for the tuner, I've had many customers reporting back how much better the Plasma VGA route is.

All the best,

Dr John Sim.
