Having been burnt several times by buying expensive AV kit only to find it "upgraded" a few months later, I have shied off buying Arcam FMJ AV8; but this has turned into "for quite some time".

John Dawson's speech way, way back at The Event 2 made me think that Arcam must be working on an AV8 replacement / upgrade that accepts HDMI and/or is HDMI switcher.

The new Denon AVC-A1XV looks promising in this regard, and has a build in Faroudja DCDi deinterlacing for analogue sources too.

Any speculation on when such a beast may arrive from Cambridge?

    A & R CAMbridge...

AVP700 is DiVA range processor, estimates price it between the AV8 and the AVR300 (am putting together a client quote right this minute on the AVP700 and P1000 allowing £3k for the pair). But I can't see that it's a replacement for the AV8. No THX badge for a start.

What I do wonder is if the AVP700 is going to pick up multichannel HDMI audio from the DV29...

Arcam are based in Cambridge are they not?

AVP? That's the DiVA range is it not? Hardly replacement for the FMJ AV8. ;)
