Yeah, i got it this morning from WH Smiths (using the £2 off voucher in Empire that i was buying at the same time). VERY clean picture, only watched a couple of eps so far, but damn nice. Good boxes too, cardboard + plastic if you like the collectors look, or standard boxes if your shelf needs to look universal.

An excellent series and, no doubt, an excellent boxset.

However, at 40 quid or so for the set, it can stay on the shelf of Woolies, WH Smith and I'll wait for the R1 version. Given past experience, Play 247, Movietyme etc will offer this set at around the £18 - £20 pricemark, a more reasonable cost.

And if the R1 sets can be sold at this price, the only reason the R2 can't be as well is that companies here can charge whatever they want for a product without any fear of "public power" or legal action.

I will not contribute to "rip-off Britain".

Has Futurama R2 on for £29 using the discount code FUT£29.

Better than most others though R4 is only £25 or so when released.

    Thanks, Paul

R1 won't be out for a while yet. Theres this regulation that Fox have that any material shown in the US cannot be released onto DVD/VHS etc.. until 5 years after the initial airing.

Doubt it will beat R2 anyway, apart from in price.

hobbes - exactly right mate and I don't think £29 for the whole first season is that bad anyway. How many times will you watch it - I bought it on Saturday and I've wathed them all, plus a few commentaries already!

Money well spent if you ask me, especially considering the quailty of the whole package :)

I got it on Monday and have just started watching the 3rd disc. I got mine for £34.99 but I really really wanted it and I have the financial sense of your average doormouse.

I haven't even started on the commentaries yet but I'm loving it! Futurama is absolutely cracking fantastic!

Dont think the 5 years is a hard and fast rule, all depends on the syndication prospects for any particular show.

Would expect modern syndication contracts to include clauses regarding DVD release.

rumours say that the R1 version could be out late 2003. This is just in line with the 5year syndication period as Futurama was first broadcast in early 1999 in the US.
