I'm going for the Fusion although the Panasonic sounds tempting if it's really nearly here. I am hoping that the super compression or whatever they call it at Fusion allows more recording time than the Thomson and Panasonic can handle (stated at 20 hours). I've never needed more than 20 hours on video tape, but I expect to use HDD a heck of a lot more than a VCR. And I'm a software techie, not a hardware techie, so I wouldn't want to mess with upgrading the hard drive.

I have also been waiting for quie sometime for this. I actualy ordered on the 7th of this Month after receiving an email from Fusion saying it would be distributed that week. The money has been taken of my card. But according to the order tracker it is still awaiting stock.

Mine's arrived now, hooked up... I haven't played with it yet but the setup was instant and easy, and there was a loose sheet of information with the manual explaining that the 7 day programme guide will be received overnight. Support telephone number also included on this sheet of information (which I have already used, very responsive, and the problem was not with the Fusion, it was my Scart lead).

The size is surprisingly small - it looks a lot bigger in it's photos. Dimensions listed in the manual are: 360mm x 47mm x 245mm. If I could find where the kids put the ruler, I would check that.

If you check digital spy forums, there is someone else further along with their Fusion than me...

I've been posting my experiences over at the Digital Spy forums, as have a few others who now have the machine. Here's the link if you're interested. (Sorry not to put all the information here also, I just wouldn't keep up, and there's more traffic at DS).

Hi, I just checked my order and it now says "Processing Complete" so I assume it is in stock now. Although the page where you order says "awaiting stock".

Hi, yes got it. Works great so far, need to update the software and epg tonight but very happy so far.
Slight disapointment that there is no Digital out for audio into Surround Amp (my old Nokia OnDigital had it), but I can live with that. I find exiting from menus a bit of a pain as stated on the other forums but getting used to it slowly.
I must admit I find the live tv record a bit confusing as there isn't an on screen icon or the like telling me which I am in at the time (live or timeslipped). I am still playing with it at present, so maybe I am just not paying enough attention.
As for heat, I can't see a problem there. It is roughly the same temp as my all my hard drives in my PC (4 of them) and my PC has 3 fans blowing in and 4 fans extracting any heat in the case.
I would have prefered it to be bigger (many will disagree) as all my kit, is standard size IE: around 420mm wide x 90mm high. So it looks a little out of place in my home made unit.
All in all very happy with it, and glad I waited rather than get the pace or Thompson.

P.S. Tuner 1 is at 73% from Wenvoe Transmitter. Tuner 2 is 66% from Mendip Transmitter. So far "NO LOCKUPS" even with extensive "PLAYING" LOL.

Well it didn't update last night. It may have been my fault as I was trying to delete a few things I had recorded, just before I went to bed. They wouldn't delete, so I just left it in standby and went to bed (knackered and no patience by that time). When I got up this morning the clock was stuck at 00.04, which is 2 mins after I went upstairs. This morning I disconected the power, plugged it back in and the clock reset itself. The progs I wanted to get rid of deleted at the first attempt this morning. So I will try again tonight.

P.S. Thanks for the link ANG, I will pop over there every so often to read the latest. But will post on here, I am already registered with around 12 Forums so don't want another one. I first registered with AV Forums back in 2002, but haven't been back here until recently. So I had to re-register (still managed to keep my user name).

With reference to the noise mentioned in the other thread. I would say it is quiet. I had to get to within 1 metre to actualy hear it running when TV is on and sound muted. As I sit approx 10ft from TV when viewing it is not a problem at all.
Another slight gripe, is. Sitting at the usual distance from TV (10-12 ft). It is very difficult to see the display on the Fusion.
There is one function I would have liked if I had a wish list.
I would have liked to have been able to record in to the Fusion from an external source. IE: DVD, CD, Video or Camcorder.

These things record the digital Freeview stream direct so there is no facility to do A/D conversion, say from an external source. Unless the Fusion is doing things different, its not going to happen.

    Sorry.

Yes I appreciate that. It would have been nice though. I can do it on PC anyway. It would have been nice to store some mp3's on there, instead of burning to cd all the time. I have 1300cd's so it would make a great MP3 Jukebox. When the Grandkids come round they always want to see the same films, so I could have put a couple of thier favs on, to save swapping discs back and forth.

    Off Subject.
I just watched the new Movie starring Vin Deisel. The Chronicles of Riddick (pitch black 2). It's like a mix between Starwars, Terminator and Starshiptroopers. Awsome special effects and some really good sound effects perfect for Surround systems. Even in Prologic 2 it sounds great. Will be even better in full DD or DTS.

Well it didn't update software or the EPG last night. It froze at 03-46am. So I will try it again tonight.
