Despite really enjoying (enduring) this at the cinema, I don't think I could go through another viewing.

At first I thought a 7 for the film was a bit 'tight' but thinking on it, it is about right. It's not quite the polished film it could/should have been. Shia LeBeouf put in a great performance in this one though. He's an unhinged character at the best of times, so great casting there.

Thanks for the review, Cas. Possibly going to buy this one....one of the reason's being, my partner's neice worked on this film...so obviously in the credits....but recall watching the film with my partner, and from memory, could take it or leave it...

Thanks Cas for another great review. I also feel that there is something that stops this Movie being truly Top Class. I rented the Blu Ray when that came out, & will rent the 4K version, but even though I "enjoy" (If that is the right word) watching War Movies this isn't one I see myself actually buying.

must be a seriously impressive atmos mix to improve upon an already reference sound track.

The bass on this actually made me jump out of my seat on a recent viewing.

The opening scene is quality... Such a great cinematographer...

I saw this twice in cinema... Once for the movie and once again for the visuals...

      Great film
If you take a visit to http://www.tankmuseum.org/home you can see the actual Sherman and Tiger tank they used in filming Fury.
And it was a genuine Tiger in the movie, it was mentioned in the latest podcast that it wasn't.
Well worth a visit, just don't miss the live show in the afternoon.

Thanks for the review Cas,for me a good 8,hopefully playing mine tonight :)

Just a little footnote,in more modern war movies Saving Private Ryan etc,the US soldiers calls the Germans soldier Nazis a lot.
But the most common name was Kraut, by the US forces, and Jerry or Germans by the British

You might want to give the podcast a relisten! ;). He states it is "proper shermans against a real tiger". They then go on to say that they appreciate the accuracy as often they use mocked up tanks which I suspect is where you are getting a bit mixed up.

Regardless I do agree with your recommendation to visit the Tank Museum at Bovington. Well worth the trip just to see Tiger 131 imho. They also have an impressive collection of all sorts of tanks from various eras from WW1 right up to the present day.

A very tidy review Cas. Have to agree about the 7, as it drifts a bit and the end is seriously drawn out and OTT. Brad Pitt certainly need not worry about X-Rays. Not sure if this or Saving Private Ryan could hit a 10 for picture what with the overall effect.

Even better go to tankfest at Bovington on 1st July - they get their running tanks out together with other invited tanks and drive them around the arena and stage mock battles. Very impressive to see them running close up and personal.

      Cheers,

      Nigel

Great review, I hadn’t seen this, assumed by trailer it would be ok.
Just watched on Netflix and it’s a decent film, can only imagine the disc audio track would be fantastic.

I watched this yesterday and the PQ and SQ is one of the best in my collection.

I thought it was a superb film, definitely worth the £15 I paid from HMV

My first watch ever, and really enjoyed it, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as i did, and the Atmos audio is reference, absolutely epic during some of the firefights and artillery bombardments.

Watched this last week for the first time and enjoyed it.

On the PQ front, did anyone have an issue with a few scenes of very grey/elevated blacks?
