    Can anyone recommend me a cabinet/shelf unit (in a real wood finish preferably) that would be suitable for housing 700 hundred+ records? I've looked around myself and found a couple that would be suitable (Ikea's Bonde series is highly thought of)

    However, I need an online retailer who offers home delivery - which rules Ikea, Habitat et al right out. So far I've only been able to find people who supply MDF cubes or cheapo self build packs with flimsy shelves. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    It would also need a high wife approval rating as it's going to be in the living room, hence the wood finish. ANY help would be appreciated. Oh, and if anyone knows of something suitable from MFI/Argos/etc... or other more common stores, then that'd do, as they're more local than Ikea.

    I picked up some hefty cubes in pine from B&Q of all places!! The six cube can hold roughly five hundred with room to spare!! You can also get matching 4 cubes or two cubes to match the six, which would do nicely!! Just go and check them out, then get them to deliver if neccary. Laid horizontaly (so stuff can be put on top) and varnished they look good enough to keep my missus happy.

    You can get specialist record cabinets, but when i checked them out the cost was stratospheric!! :eek:

    Cheers for the tipoff overkill. I had a look around and found quite a few options myself and my preference would have been for simple pine cubes, but I got knocked back by the wife as she wanted just one singular unit.

    In the end after a good bit of hunting I bought the 16 cube version of this;

    and got it for £165 in the sale. Very sturdy, looks alright for a piece of flat pack furniture and safely houses all my vinyl with no sagging or bowing whatsoever. Plus the wife's happy with it. I didn't get wheels for it (as I originally planned to) because I wasn't convinced they'd hold as much weight as I'd be putting on it.

    Very nice!! I had one like that i bought off one of the reps I knew, TDK's rep i think. He got it dirt cheap then, when he and his missus, erm, parted company, sold it to me for £15 !! :D Sadly over the years it got damaged in house moves and finally bit the dust last time out!! Sniffle!
