    Hi there :)

Yep, the Mordaunt Shorts are in place and doing there job. Now you've mentioned that they're dipoles... should I be wiring them out of phase?

When I posted this list of movies I had a sneaky suspicion that 12 Monkeys would be up there as one of the most requested... and I happen to not really enjoy this one - despite so wanting to :suicide:

    Hope you're doing well ;)

Sorry  I have dipoles, those are 100% definately bipoles and the crossover is set for them to be wired in phase.

Mrs Tons is a huge fan of Dante's Peak if that is more appealing?

Please read in your best German/Austrian accent...

"A-ha! I suspect that you harbour unconcious desires to upgrade your rear speakers, but have a deep-rooted fear that any such behaviour would result in severe repercussions of a personal nature!" :D

Dantes Peak... now you're talking ;)

I bought it some time ago... sorry! You have good taste, though... and I suspect you're a bass fiend?

Man - I don't think I've ever looked forward so much to reviewing DVDs!!

    Apollo 13, no question.

I dunno what it is, but I am not too keen on 12 Monkeys either. I should like it, but I find 12 Monkeys a bit boring for some reason.

I agree about Twelve Monkeys, I've tried to love it!!! Apollo 13 is a classic IMO, how many films sustain such tension even though you know what's going to happen at the end!!!

Also make sure that if a film isnt an action that it isnt advertised as such.

and make sure EA games are banned from having licenses to see how well they do then

I make that 3 votes for Twelve Monkeys and 3 for Apollo 13 so far... does nobody care about these other DVDs? I'm a little surprised... having had a quick listen to The Jackel I thought the sound was awesome

If you want a fullbitrate film from Japan with excellent picture quality then try either Blade or Cliffhanger as an alternative to those mentioned although they are already available for review on this site.

Apollo 13 is being re-released soon and will probably have a halfbitrate DTS track.

From what i gather 12 Monkeys sounds good but doesnt look so good compared to new releases around today.

I have Virus and it does sound good ( nothing special compared to most new releases ) it even looks great during certain scenes but suffers from grain and probably edge enhancement ( which never really bothers me that much )

Anyone on these forums willing to do a review of Armageddon DTS Japan edition for my site or lend me a copy so i can review it ? ( pretty please )

Rather than reviews, how about comaprisons? I have a R2 DD Apollo 13 I would let you borrow for the comparison if you want it...though I know all about you and you're pal speed allergy!!
I think comparison's would be good...believe it or not, I've actually got about a dozen full bit rate discs myself, and the best sounding one of them all is Last Of The Mohicans...

I agree i would like more comparisons.

I'm slowly getting over my PAL speedup issues ( although i still prefer NTSC and no speedup ) as i bought the Lion King DTS and also own Speed and a few others although i see lots of bargains to be had in region 3 territory.

Thanks for the offer of a loaner Apollo 13... the nicest thing about comparing the NTSC disc with the Pal one is that the Pal one will be over some 5 and half minutes quicker than its NTSC colleague ;)

Yep, I agree about comparisons, I'd like the team to be able to do more direct DVD comparisons from different regions - especially if one particular release has a different soundtrack - I've read that the Canadian Passion may have a full bitrate dts track, for instance.

I've been wanting to do more comparisons for some time. I'll see what I can do... watch this space ;)

I think my brother, the poor sap, has a R2 Apollo 13, so the first direct comparison may be on its way soon!

If anybody would like to see any other comparison reviews please let me know by posting in this thread.

    Thanks guys
