I've just seen a fujitsu 42" plasma at work : being fed RGB from a wharfedale player by the looks of things. Don't know the model number.

    Are they always this bad?

Terrible deinterlacing, terrible scaling artifacts , terrible banding . Very very clipped looking picture and the unit has supposedly been calibrated.

Huge lipsync errors also sound way ahead of video.

The answer then, is no, they are not all that bad. I recently replaced my 56 inch 100hz toshiba rptv with a panny 6 and apart from the fact that my tosh 510 dvd player wont work with it, it is alot better.

I've got a Fujitsu VHA20 and am very happy with it. AFAIK it's Panny 5 glass with better electronics (AVM chip).

If it's connected with scart, several points. It doesn't auto sense the input, and unless you go into the menu and tell it to look for RGB it's running on composite. Also, the scart board is a founder member of the 'not terribly good club'. The plasma is fine, as such, sounds like lousy setup.

My panel doesn't have SCART inputs at all, but that's fine since here in Australia SCART is very rarely used by anything. It does have two sets of component inputs, which is very welcome.

I'd rather have more component inputs rather than scart sockets these days...
