Hi, I`d like to pick your expert brains for a moment.
On wednesday I`m due to take delivery of my first home cinema system
    It comprises of:

    Fujitsu 4242 plasma
    Sony STR 1070 amp/receiver
    Toshiba SD510e dvd player
Bose acoustimass 10 series II speakers/sub

the plasma will have the following inputs:

    1 x S-video
    1 x Composite
    1 x Component (3 x BNC)
    1 x RGB (15 pin 3 row VGA)
    1 x RGB (5 x BNC)

the dvd will connect via component input (3x BNC) as the toshiba has the same. Now my question is regarding how to best hook the plasma up to my first generation sky digibox.

I have seen the following solutions from:

    A) Scart rgb > 5 x BNC or 15 pin VGA from www.keene.co.uk/pages/cat/11lea/111-2.html#SGB

    or

    B) Scart > S-Video or RGB convertor boxes from http://www.rgbtosvideo.com/

    thanks!

Option B. scart rgb to rgb box ->vga -> vga cable ->vga plasma

Been informed that the Keene 'solution' is not so trustworthy, stay clear.;)

Have you considered conecting up your DVD player using an RGB cable to the BNC terminals on the back?

What I have figured, and any one correct me if I am wrong, is that SCART RGB consist of RGBS, where the H and V sync signals are carried along the cable. Now, the Fujitsu will accept this, (if you look at the back of the screen on of the inputs is nmarked H/CS (for composite sync).

This should work for the DVD player(put it into RGB mode), and if you connect the Sky box to the DVD player, using an RGB SCART, the DVD will carry the RGB signal through from the Sky box,

Hence you then should only need to connect up to the screen using the RGB BNC terminals.

(but you will need to connect a video player to the composite BNC seperatly, as they only seen to offer composite outputs)

This is all in theory, as I am still awaiting my Sony DVD player.

Hope this helps, and is clear

    Shilen
