    Evening all,

I am using myHTPC frontend at the moment with analog outputs from my Revo 7.1 into my denon amp for all that is not dvd and digital coaxial also into the amp for dvd. question are, as this is gui driven setup is...

    1) when going to music mode with the gui can I get my HCPC to tell my amp to switch to the analog source.
    2) when going to dvd mode with the gui can I get my HCPC to tell my amp to switch to the digital source.
    3) can I have an option on the gui to tell my system to change channel (on TV) to gamecube channel, and amp to gamecube audio source.
    4) if I add a stereo amp, how will this all fit in too.

I have lots of questions like this, and would really like to see/hear some examples of how you guys have got yours all setup.

I really do lose sleep thinking about all this

I use an audigy sc with spdif digital out with mono jack to coax input on amp for all sound (games, effects, AC3/dvd movies, music
etc) works well as amp switches modes automatically (have yamaha dspa1) and creative audio hq sofware set up to redirect all through digital out and pcm 96khz set (though movies only work on 48khz) dont forget that you will need a digital 2 pin cable between internal dvd and sound card!

I did have a problem with power dvd 4.5 getting dd out but windvd 5 had no probs at all.

    hope this helps...

    What I mean is...

    (Based on Revo Card)
    1) Games - have to use 5.1/7.1 analog outputs for surround
    2) Music - 2 Channel analog output
    3) DVD - Digital out
    4) TV - havent done this yet.

How are you guys controlling all this so it is automated?

So does everyone just use sp/dif then? what about CD playback? how about other inputs to the projector?

Anyone near me wanna give me a demo of their HCPC & projector to get me (Southend) better ideas?

Easiest option for all that "switching" is an ir emitter connected to your HCPC with Girder or another software package.

AFAIK, there's no "single" solution to such complex switching of numerous/varied equipment.

Denon 3803 fed by SPDIF from HCPC. Optical input from DVD & Sky+
DVI direct to HS10. Capture card in HCPC for Sky again outputting via DVI to HS10.

I only run SPDIF/PCM to the receiver.

Irman & Girder for control duties.

Not a "dedicated" HCPC as such. Dual monitor setup (well, PJ & TFT). Used for working/surfing/gaming etc..

sounds like you need the spdif 2 pin connector cable which u can get at maplins for £2.99 this goes between the internal dvd player and /sc this should then get the pass through right for direct sound from dvd to externall amp (software permitting!) from digital out of s/c

I listen to music cds hence the PCM but my amp autoswitches to pcm stereo from optical/digital source! why would you need out to projector? surely this is only picture and not sound - is there not a pre amp out on your amp or tape monitor out/function to pass onto other equipment? PCM definatly gives best music listening performance

What amp do you have that auto switches to stereo, I have a Denon 3802 and it just stays in whatever sound mode selected :(
