Hi all, I am looking at new surround systems and have my eye on the Pioneer DCS-323 model. I'm interested because there are no rear speakers as this system uses 3 spot surround - ie the rear speakers are actually placed above the front ones and angled towards the walls, and bounce off them behind you. The lack of wires trailing around the room is a big bonus! I'm not a perfectionist, I just want good surround sound - I'm not expecting miracles as it isn't true surround. But has anyone used this model, or have opinions on it? Whereas the next model up has the taller/thinner front speakers which obviously fall at ear level, this model has a smaller front pair. Of course you could place them on stands, but is there any significant reason that they couldn't be placed on the ground, seeing as the speech will be coming out the centre speaker at ear level? Cheers.
