Wouldnt touch it with a bargepole, Paramount had years to do the decent thing and listen to all the fans who were crying out for uncut releases of each movie and instead they give us this crap......... no thks

I read that Paramount are like Disney and refuse to release unrated material, not sure if thats true but in this instance it sucks bigtime..... i will not buy and would say to all fans out there, don't buy and don't let Paramount have your money, show them you wanted an uncut boxset and perhaps one day we might get it.

the set has footage on it which was cut from the releases to get the R rating they needed. It is a shame though they could not make them uncut though

To be fair to Paramount it is a pure economic decision on their part rather than a moral one. To restore all these movies to uncut status would be an expensive process they do not have uncut masters sitting on a shelf, according to the american forums they would have to find all the outakes from all the movies, restore them seamlessly which a la LOTR means you have to actually re-score sequences so the soundtrack is seamless.
To go to all this expense for something that isn't Star wars, Indiana Jones or LOTR simply doesn't add up as far as the studio is concerned.
Unfortunately this box set is the best you are likely to get.

The Friday 13th box isn't on my list either. The films (apart from the first one) are not good enough to warrant buying a sub standard package like this.

This might be a stupid question, but when I saw FT13th Pt2 (back in the days of VHS!), I remember all the death scenes being 'censored' (?) by a white screen. You only actually got to see the bodies after the kills. Was it censored, or was it meant to be part of the movie, and is it still like it now?

Lots of violence was allowed in the Jason films in America upto Friday the 13th Part 4, from then on the films became more sanitized and lots got cut out, worth mentioning Jason Goes to Hell as it is available unrated and features some great gory moments, part 7 suffers the most from the new censorship problems which afflicted all horror films around that period in America.

( I have been gettin Fangoria magazine for the past 20 years )

Total waste of money this box set. Friday the 13th pt 1 is the cut R rated version - the UK release is the Unrated International cut which features some nice extra gore PLUS it has an audio commentary that wont be on the R1 and Documentary.
As for Paramount not having money to restore the movies again total :censored: These movies have been some of the most sucessful horror films ever making Paramount a very large amount of money. A number of other Companys approached Paramount (Anchor Bay, Blue underground etc)an offered to do the box set - in fact a number of people(Directors/Editers) offered to search Paramounts vaults (looking for the uncut footage) for FREE.
As for the extras on the box set another Wasted opportunity - some of the Directors and other people involved in the movies were willing to record Audio commentarys, Interviews etc for FREE But Paramount turned them down!!

Also if someone really wants to buy this set you might want to get it from it (i think) 'BEST BUY' as there are selling it with an additional Extras disc with a load of interviews recorded at a convention.

Maybe Paramount are craftily testing the waters with this one, and if it sells, they will do something a bit more special for other regions? Just a thought... ;)

Paramount suck worse than a toothless Cameron Diaz, they knew what the fans wanted and they failed to deliver, like Captain says they had an opportunity and years to do the right thing and came up with this substandard pile of ****

I have Part 1 on R2 and that would do me fine.
Would like to see that 3D one though (was it part 3?) on DVD if they ever put it out.
