Is the picture quality of freeview better than that given by Sky (assuming good aerial reception) ?
IME yes it is.. freeview picture has a slight edge, slightly more vivid and brighter to my eyes
Tend to agree..............my picture with Freeview is first class.
Yes. Higher bitrate leads to less pixellation. And it's much better value.....
I've got both, and I don't think there is any difference between them at all.
Likewise I have both and find that the quality difference between BBC channels on Freeview and Sky are substantial. On Freeview the PQ of BBC1/2 is substantially clearer and totally free from artifacts (due to the higher bitrate). Naturally the quality of your Freeview box also plays a part. I use the Sony V800 which seems to be one of the better digiboxes.
I do agree with Nick though that for non-BBC channels the PQ tends to be the same/identical between the two.
Freeview is better - however note that the people who claim this usually have top end DTTV tuners - eg Pace Twin or any Sony
