freeview/sky help please

    hi, i am a sky subscriber and i have just instaled a quad lnb , i have run one of the cables to a old sky (pace) box with a old card in it . problem is i cannot get channel 4 or 5 . i have two questions , i live in a area were we cannot get freeview via my old terrestal ariel but if i purchase a freeview box can i then get it if i conect via my sky dish , if i cannot do this what is the best way or the best card to purchase so i can get all the freview channels . thanks

    Its because the channels are encrypted, you would need a freesat card from sky for £20

    You cannot connect a Freeview box to a satellite dish...you connect it to an aerial.

    If the old card is a current one (yellow house logo), it may just be that it hasn't received a 'stay awake' signal recently.

    Leave the card in the box, the box connected to the dish and the box either on or on standby and check again in 3 or 4 days. You may be pleasantly surprised.

    If it works, it will decrypt:

    1. Channel 4
    2. five
    3. five US
    4. five life
    5. Sky Three

    There are no other FTV channels (even if some others do appear on the digital terrestrial service, Freeview).
