I recently bought a Panasonic DMREX95VEBS and the freeview reception is 10 on most channels, the others are 7.

I connected up my old freeview box, also Panasonic, and this will not receive an adequate signal for ITV1 or Channel 4, it was like this before I bought the DVD recorder so it's nothing new.

I've updated the software on the standalone box to no avail.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what might be wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

My old Sony TV vs my newer Toppy - no contest. The Toppy finds everything and hardly any dropouts, even with a dozen starlings chattering on the aerial. The Sony ? Noticeably worse.

Newer stuff has better gain (in S/N terms) as we would expect with new technology.
