When recording Freeview TV programmes, all recordings are in black and white. When feeding the channel through the VCR, pictures are OK.

Is this likely to be a fault with the Freeview box (Pioneer) or the VCR?.

Recordings used to be OK. I haven't changed the setup.

    Thanks for any info.

Its a symptom of mismatching composite & svideo signals. Check that the vcr, stb&tv connections all match.

Additionally some stb's assume VCRs can only accept composite and will send that if controlling a VCR recording. You may be able to change that in the stb settings or you may have to explicitly use composite between them. Alternately using RGB prevents svideo working but your vcr may be passing the RGB through but trying to record svideo.

    Paul,

Thanks for that. It turned out to be a faulty input (Scart) on the VCR. Luckly, the VCR has another Scart input. Works fine on that.
