all i heard about freeview is that when connected to a standard ariel you can receive extra channels like cbbc, bbc3+4 etc. Am i right in saying you cannot receive sky1 or any subscription channels like zeetv (asian channel)

have been told humax pt800/8000 is a good buy with 80GB hard drive. You can record onto HD and watch another channel.

Is it possible to attach a dvd recorder/ vcr recorder to a freeview machine and record from it?

at present i have ntl cable with zeetv. having lost my job recently therefore i am looking for a cheaper alternative. kids enjoy watching cbbc and missus zeetv but having to fork out £300+ per year is not welcome. Freeview is subscription free and the only alternative unless you know otherwise.

could do with info of best buy for less than £200 and which outlet to buy it from. might break the 200 barrier if it is an exceptional machine.

    thanks in advance

    Also available by subscription: http://www.topuptv.com/

Yes, you can record from a set top box.

Humax PVRs only have one tuner. So can't record one and watch another. Pace Twin, Thomson and Fusion/Digifusion have two tuners so you can record one and watch another.

Or......you could use two - the Humax (for recordings) and another tuner only (no PVR) (fior watching) - they start at around GBP40.
