My in-laws have sacked Sky & recently bought a Grundig integrated digital TV. I worked out how to get the digital channels & it has an EPG, but many of the channels listed are not accesible (they seem to be sky subscription channels). Can they get them, if so who do they pay?

Once again the power of marketing and generating customer awareness is incredible!
Or is it that TUTV are just useles at marketing, that would be strange considering the bosses learnt their trade at SKY:)

STB manufacturers will release more boxes with the required hardware as long as TUTV remains viable, in other words as long as their subscriber base continues to grow. Their initial subscription targets would have been based on the limited number of compatable boxes on the market and I believe an addon for some STB's is either out now or just around the corner.
IDTV's by law have to be equipped with CA module support.

Starburst, what does that mean? I'm still none the wiser. I think I read the Tv has a PCMCIA slot, why? I dont Know. Does anyone know how to receive any 'extra' channels?

EU law says that all Integrated digital televisions have to incorporate a "Common Interface" slot (CI). This allows the TV to be upgraded for encrypted digital broadcasts when a suitable addon is inserted into the slot.
In the case of the UK the only additional channels via the aerial are from TUTV and are subscription based and you will need to subscribe to them to receive those channels. In most cases it may be as simple as just buying the smartcard and inserting it into the CI slot but other IDTV's will need a module for the card.

    More info here.

I've no idea if the PCMCIA slot is another name or serves the same function as a CI slot.

Thanks, I think they went freview as they were sick of Skys subscription charges, when they don't watch much tele. So have been buying some DVDs instead. They hadn't realised they could get freview without a STB !! (They've had the TV a while & hadn't realised its' capabilities !!) However now they get a tantalising glimpse of what they're missing on the EPG, they were wondering how/at what cost some of the other channels were available. I'd no idea, but 'knew' someone who would. I'll check out the link & pass it on.
