I have just bought a Sagem freeview box with a gold plated scart lead.

Upon connecting the box to the TV as per the manufacturers instructions, all I am getting is a rolling and unstable screen.

I have tested the scart lead on other equipment and it is fine. My aerial is also fine

My TV has only one scart connection and so has the freeview box.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated as I am at my wits end. Please help!

I have seen this on an old portable I have in a bedroom.

It only happens when the Freeview box switches the TV over to the scart (pin 8). I suspect the TV is so old it doesn't understand the different voltages on pin 8 for widescreen or 4:3.

If I manually select "AV" (scart) using the TV's remote all is fine.

    HTH,

    Rob.
