    Hello,

Im watchin Freeview via a Viera plasma with a built in receiver.

On Friday two channels dissapered BBC4 & ITV2.
(These channels now display a black image, but the programme
schedule still shows, ie time etc.)

    Anyone had anything similar?

    Any ideas very welcome.

Have you checked the signal stregth and qualify for those channels ? Or any of the channels you get. You might have a marginal signal which is dropping below the level where a picture can be decoded. Do you have a booster on the signal ? what sort of aerial ?

Hi, Im getting a 9 out of 10 signal strength for the channels in question
and had the same setup for half a year now.

Can the signal strength change due to various reasons?

    Thanks for your response.

Ok when I first bought My Viera plasma I had the same problem. I could only receive the BBc free view channels. This was because the ariel I had on the roof was fairly old and could only receive the digital muxes from the BBC Channels.
    Now you have 2 options.

You could try and reposition your ariel. My old one was also pointing in the wrong direction
Or you will have to invest in a new digital ariel. I did and got all the channels plus a better analogue reception as well. It cost £100 fitted. This was from one of my local suppliers and they were also C.A.I registered which is the confederation of ariel installers. Look through the yellow pages and get a couple of quotes. When I did this the prices ranged from £100 to about £250  so make sure you do some ringing round.

The C.A.I website can be found here and will give you the info you need.

    Edit..........

You could also try a retune of the system and see if it picks the channels you have lost back up. ( I have jsut re read your post and My first bit of advice would seem a bit redundant :D )

my freeview box sometimes freezes on certain chanels, try unpluging at mains and turning back on, or try rescanning for new channels, it may pick them back up.

    Thanks all for your replies.

The short term answer was i did a couple of fresh scans
for the channels and i got them all back now.

If it happens again i shall spend a few pounds for a more
    permenant solution as recomended.

    Cheers big ears. :smashin:
