Freeview Aerial

Hi,
I have just bought a Philips freeview box for my son's bedroom and I installed it using the existing set top aerial. No programmes were found (not too surprised, thought I would try it anyway - box can be returned within 28 days). When I do a post code search for my area it says freeview is available but I might need an upgraded aerial. Would a digital set top aerial work or does it need to be a roof top one? Thanks for any help

There is no such thing as a DIGITAL aerial. What you need is a good aerial. The fact that you are told you might need an upgraded aerial suggests you are in a poor signal area in which case a set top aerial will probably not work.

They dont make these things simple do they!!

Heinze,
I have put in my grid ref SZ276950, but I have no idea what it is telling me. I have 2 transmitter signals and I am presuming I need a "super dooper" ariel for the one 41 miles away as it says "Amplified extra hi-gain" under the heading Antenna Suggestion, but the one that is only 12 miles away (but across the solent on the Isle of White) says Log periodic, what on earth does than mean, is this a type of aerial?? I wish they could put it in laymens terms.

Can anyone help?
