Freesat With PX80

Wasn't sure whether to ask this question here or in the Freesat forum. I have a Humax Foxsat-HD and a PX80 and find the myriad of connection possibilities quite daunting. At the moment the Humax doesn't allow Original as an output format over HDMI, so you have to select from a range - 576i upto 1080i. I read somewhere that, assuming the TV has a better scaler than the box, it would be best to output SD channels as 576i, and HD channels as 1080i. I must admit, I find it quite difficult to decide which setting results in the best picture on the TV, without having a side by side comparison, or some reference video to go by. Has anyone done exhaustive tests with this combo? Or any advice?

I can't help other than to comment that the lack of an 'original' mode on my VM V+ box drives me crackers too.

Why force scaling upon people who may not want it?
