Freesat with Antiference - Will this work?

Good Evening, I am new to AV Forums and I really hope someone can help. I have read other threads but I thought it was best to ask a specific question. I have an Antiference A260D 'F' 6 Way Aerial Amplifier Signal Booster that has not yet been connected. I plan to install a dish that will link to this amp. I have a link running from the amp to each room in the house (all using the correct cable for sky/freesat). I intend on having the freesat box in the same cupboard as the amp (upstairs). Will this work if I have a remote eye on each tv system? I hope this is clear. Thank you in advance.

I'm not quite clear what you are trying to do. Aerial amplifiers, like the Antiferance, are designed to work with conventional TV aerials and RF signals, not dishes.
However if you connect the Freesat box with the dish directly and then take the RF output from the box (if it has one) to the 6 way booster/amp you can take the feeds from this to televisions around the house. The connection would be through the aerial sockets so they will be analogue and not as high quality as digital. You have not said if you are intending to put a ordinary TV aerial into your system. Mixing this with the Freesat box output is not really realistic.

Changing the channel remotely could be achieved by a magic eye device which matches you Freesat box. I've no experience of it working on its own. Of course all the TVs would be showing the same channel at the same time. All in all it's a rather clumsy way of doing the job. I think you would be advised to look at a different way of doing things.

This amplifier is not designed for satellite use and only has an inputs for uhf frequencies Assuming you are using this with a sky box the dish connection(s) have to go direct to the Sky box. The Terrestrial aerial goes to the sky box rf1 in. The sky box rf2 out connects to the amplifier in. The outputs of the amp will then distribute all the signals from your aerial plus the output of the sky box as an analogue mono sound TV channel to all tv's connected to the amp. Any of the amp outputs can have a magic eye fitted allowing remote control of the sky box. Normally this would be fitted in a loft fed by a single rf cable from rf2 out.

Freesat boxes don't have this capability without additional equipment. You will need an external modulator to deliver the freesat output as an analogue channel to the amp input.

You then need a box to convert the magic eye remote control signals on the coax back to IR this is available here

However if you are proposing to feed your main TV from one of these amp outputs you are losing out on RGB quality video and stereo sound from the freesat box, the analogue channel from the amp is really only suitable for small screen TV's (preferably CRT's).

You really need to move the freesat box to sit by your main TV and connect it by RGB scart (hdmi for a HD one), and feed the amp by a single rf cable for the other tv's. This diagram will give you a good idea which has a foxsat-hdr and and a sky box incorporated in the rf path

I'll give you a tip. We did extensive testing while developing our complete "Freesat magic eye/RF modulator kit" and only ONE modulator was up the the job. The rest produced interference on picture, audio, or interfered with the magic eye operation. The one linked to on eBay failed our tests.

However, I'll give you another tip. The one we chose is the same one that Maplin sell so, if you don't want to buy the complete kit, but DIY, that's the place to go.

Hi Martin thanks for that usefull info. I have one of the el cheapie ones from e-bay and it works OK but I only use it for transmitting a Tv signal and it works OK.
