Hi,
Could someone please recommend a good, basic Freesat box?

The following are required :

- hard disc for recording
- HD channels
- a user-friendly remote and menu system

Thanks,
Simon

There are only half a dozen, and they're all made to do the same job in the same way, so you just need to compare the details to see which would be the best choice for you: http://www.freesat.co.uk/products/freesat-box-range.
The Humax is the make that gets the most mentions on the forum and it probably is the best of the limited bunch.

Ignore the Freesat site and search this forum for peoples real world experiences. Then buy the Humax Foxsat HDR.

In my opinion there's only one choice at present and that's the Humax HDR, it for one offers the option to archive recordings, specially helped by the work done by Raydon, Adrian and others. Thanks guys.
