Freebie Pio DVR 230 - any good?

Just wondering if the above recorder is any good. I assume it's a very old model but anyone know it's good and bad points. and how long ago it was released.Also can it loop Sky+ RGB thru' it?
Basically is it worth unpacking

Oh well I assume this maybe a model too old.
I got it yesterday and gave it away unpacked today.
May be I should look into a newer model.

One look at Pioneer's website would have told you it is part of their current product range and is their entry model.

I had looked at their website but cannot tell how long they've been doing that model. Even 2 years is a long time in this recordable dvd field.

Pioneer are only showing their current models on the website, I think the DVR-230 is less than 6 months old.

Just given it to my brother.
I think a HDD recorder is the best way to record. Just started another thread to see what is suitable for Sky+.
