    Hi All,

I'm from Northampton England and I've recently had a disagreement with my network supplier. I'm now looking for a good free view box something like the Sky+ box I had.

I've been reading some of your discussions and I thought that you may be able to lead me in the right direction.

I would like a unit with a recording facility and twin tuners so that I can watch one program whilst recording another. I've taken note of your comments regarding software bugs and the running noise of some units and am quite wary.

I guess the choices so far are between:

    Panasonic TUCHT1000
    Fusion FVRT100
    HUMAX 8000T (9000T?)
    Pace Twin Digital

    What do you think?
Are there others I should be looking at?

    Many Thanks,
    Geezer4

Twin is most like Sky+, but i might be tempteed to try the new panny or buy the Humax for recording and perhaps another for watching, The twin does have some bugs, but Pace invented the system and made all the V1 and most V2 sky+ boxes, so the closest replacement has to be a Twin or wait for panny.

Despite its faults the Twin is still probably the best box

I have the Fusion FVRT100 and I love it. It works perfectly, and I wouldn't be without it. Pace Twin's disk is too small - once you have a PVR with an EPG you will definitely want more than 10 hours capacity.

Fusion have announced an upcoming release (hopefully early September) whereby we will be able to: watch a recording from the beginning while it is still recording; record subtitles; start recording a show from the beginning up to 30 minutes after the start.

As you can now get it for £125-135. The Humax is a real bargain now and an excellent machine.
