Free PS3 with contract mobile phones

Has anyone seen the mobile phone deals with free PS3s around? My contract is due up soon and I have the Nokia N80 which I love so aren't bothered about a brand new phone. These deals seems really good but you have to pay for the phones and delivery of ps3 is between 7 & 28 days after phone. Anyone done this kind of offer for a PS3? Know of any better sites?

Thanks guys

i thought about this too but when you work out the maths involved (i.e. how much you end up repaying) then it doesnt stack up well

I guess but then when you think of the fact that you need a new contract anyway (& in my case I'd be paying £6 a month less) and you can also get £60 back through quidco it's not actually that bad a deal. I've got till the beginning of june to order my contract so I'll see what's available then. Also the link are doing free 27" or 32" HDTVs

I considered this myself, my contract was up & I thought about going the dialaphone route but when I added it all up, it wasn't worth it.

My options were;

Current contract upgrade Nokia 6300 FOC
500 mins/100 txts £25 (12 months)

Dialaphone o2 Nokia 6300 £189.99
600 mins/500 txts £35.00 (18 months)

The Dialaphone o2 tariff has 100 more minutes & loads more texts but I don't actually use what I have anyway, so when I added the extra £10 per month over 18 months (£180) + the £189.99 for the Nokia 6300 the 'free PS3 would have actually cost me £369.99.

Not quite the bargain I initially thought but maybe it makes more sense for you depending on what your current tariff is.

dont do it...i did it last year with a contract phone from dialaphone..In order to get a free psp Gigapack i was promised it within 28 days....Well after many phone calls and me threatening to send my phone back under the distance selling regulations act and a formal letter of complaint I recieved it 4 months later. To be honest i think if i had mentioned trade descriptions in a formal letter i prob would have had it 2 months earlier...So much hasttle though i read on forums people waiting for the PSP from dialaphone last Feb (2006) some had to wait over 6 months.......

My other half did it through Carphone Warehouse & it was an absolute bargain. Free handset. Free 80GB PS3 (in store same day). New 18 month contract but the monthly charge is exactly the same as her previous agreement but now she gets more minutes & texts.

What was the monthly rate Nuggsy. Despite not being more then her normal monthly rate there is nothing to say she wasn't already paying over the odds.
My Missus bought me a Wii years ago by doing this. I was furious gutted A:) because it was a Wii........B:) because she ended up paying £400 for it

If you are thinking of keeping your phone anyway, then why not see if you could get a line only deal from your existing mobile phone service provider?

My o2 contract was due recently and I wanted to upgrade, but they couldn't give me a good deal.

In the end they offered me an 18 month line only deal for 200 mins/400 text, and this was the deal clincher, free unlimited web browsing. All for £5 a month.

I think a lot of these 'free gift' deals are a rip off anyway, as you end up paying more in the long run than the purchase price of the 'gift'.

I think her contract is about £30 for 600 minutes & unlimited texts.
She did it about a year ago so tariffs are better now.

She's not a gadget type & was going to take the deal without the PS3 until I told her what it was worth.

Hi,

Visor, that was a great deal with O2. How are you finding the browsing speeds? Can you use the mobile phone as a modem for a laptop with that deal?

How are you finding customer service with O2? Their business CS has always treated my company excellently, how are they retail?

Best wishes,

Dave

i did it last year with carphone whorehouse, i was happy with my phone so i 'upgraded' to a cheap crappy samsung and a shiny new 80 gig ps3, i've already got a 60 gigger so i sold to a mate for 215 quid and bought and str-dg820 amp and carried on with my old phone....i felt like i was robbing the place, brilliant deal.

Hi Dave,

It was a good deal, but I had to speak to the retentions team to get it as the upgrade department offered rubbish deals.

I mainly use my home wifi connection (ADSL2 line speed approx 6Mb) on my SE P1i phone, and only use the mobile web every so often. But I''d say that the 3G browsing speed is not much slower.

I don't use my phone as a modem, so not too sure.

As for customer service, I've only called them maybe a couple of times for trivial matters, but they've been fine.

I'm not sure that this deal is the best one at the moment. If I can find a better deal, I'll post immediately.

Your Basket @ OneStopPhoneShop

The deal is
Free Nokia 1661 Black
Vodafone 300 £30 a month 18m contract
Free Sony Playstation 3 80gb + £30.00 Automatic Cashback

I sometime buy a phone from this site. It's reliable. I bought a free PS3 deal about 2 years ago at e2save in 12 months £35/m contract with no extra charge. There was a week deal at that moment. I grabbed it with no hesitation. Anyway, it doesnt have that kind of deal at the moment.

Nokia 1680 classic black deals | MobDeal.com - UK's Number 1 Mobile Phone Price Comparison Site.

Will always work out cheaper to get the handset on a lower/shorter tariff and buy the PS3 outright but if you want to pay for the PS3 over 18mths/2yrs and don't mind having a crappy handset then this is probably the best way to do so.
