In an Oasis-type moment of disagreement that can occur between siblings and psychic twins, I'm the flip side of Cas' coin here, having been bored rigid by Free Fire. Technically (camera, costume, lighting, direction, effects etc.) it is showcase stuff, but it is a really a climax lacking the rest of the film that should have gone before it. There is not a single likeable character, let alone one with whom the viewer can identify or empathise. And as the shooting, shouting and swearing continue (dialogue often drowned out or incomprehensible, death not abating the cast quickly enough for my liking), the question looming ever larger before the eyes is: "Why am I watching this?" What Ben Wheatley delivers here is a begging letter to Hollywood: "Look what I can do! Please let me do this for you! Please!"

I enjoyed it at the cinema but remember after the hour mark being a bit of a clock watcher, still I enjoyed it.
To me it's a half hour section of an action movie stretched out in 90 odd minutes, and you could argue that in Baby Driver
they did this whole movie plot in a 5-10 minute section that pisses all over this
      :D

Definite rental for me. Im really unimpressed by all his films for different reasons, comes across as quite amateurish at times. Totally agree with ripsnorter above - look at me Hollywood!

I quite liked this tbh. Wasn't what I expected and it is just an extended shoot out scene but it was funny. Worth a watch once at least, can't say this is something you would watch again and again

Same here, loved the setup and the trading of insults between Michael Smiley's character and everyone else but about 15 minutes after things had kicked off I found myself pressing the Status button on the player to see how long was left.

Looking forward to this offering from Mr Wheatley, in part as (like him) I live in Brighton (and have seen him be very generous with his time talking to fans after a showing of High Rise) and intrigued that this was apparently "shot" in the old Evening Argus warehouse locally!

Arguably the worst film I've seen this year, it is literally the same 5 minutes of action being played out again and again and again, boring and predictable and as above a clock watcher.

Brie Larson is class as always.....for 5 minutes.

I actually quite enjoyed it as well, saw the negative reviews, but put it on for a bit of action and wasn't disappointed

There are a few graphic scenes, but they're very quick cuts.

6.5-7/10. Not a patch on Kill List, but still enjoyable. Didn't quite do enough to keep me entertained all the way through, but very stylish and really well executed.

I liked it but I agree with most of the comments. Gets very repetitive, and in the 'cheeky crime caper with two words in the title' stakes, it's outclassed by Baby Driver.

      A good effort though.
