Just posted this in the UT50 owner's thread but thought it worth it's own.

Products - What's on Offer - Panasonic UK & Ireland

Warranty is a pain as it's only selected models & must be via a purchase from bricks & mortar store, so you'll be paying through the nose & have the grief of getting it home. Unless you can find one willing to do an Internet price match.

Free glasses looks open to all purchases though from yesterday.

Not necessarily - there are plenty of web-friendly 'bricks and mortar' stores who come pretty close to (if not the same as) internet prices and the store I chose last year did free delivery IIRC.

If you look to see just how much places like Comet or even Amazon charge for 5 year warranties (£200+ for a large set in some cases), then you can always factor this in to your decision as to whether it's worth paying a bit more for peace of mind.

As it turned out, I'm glad I got a Panasonic warranty included with my GT30 last year as the retailer has since gone out of business !

I bought my St50 in a local store and it was cheaper than anywhere else .
The guy even took it out of the box and demoed it for me in store while I was there which was great service.Delivery was next day and free.
5 year warranty was very important to me,I wouldnt have spent more than 1000 euro on a set without it.

I wouldnt mind a few pairs of free glasses though.:(

Hmm. So does this mean if a retailer like John lewis gives you 2 free glasses you can get 2 more from Panasonic as well (4 in total) ?

For warranty yes but this from the FAQs would suggest otherwise for the glasses:

Make a claim, the worst that can happen is they reject it.

I got my GT50 at a very good price from a store. Sometimes it worth the hassle. I have seen te GT50 for example at £1099 and 1129 local.

Also look at curry price match. If the store has it in stock try will not only match the deal but also give you back 10% the difference.

Currys & the like are not participants in the warranty scheme.

Hy. I made my claim a couple of weeks ago. How long did they take to come through. Also how do they perform?

Around five weeks but think they were out of stock for most of that.

Can't comment on performance as I'm partially sighted in one eye so 3D doesn't work for me & the missus doesn't like the 3D effect at all. Watch out for the 2D/3D mode as they ship without instructions.

These are the instructions for the rechargeable version but the switch works the same.
