Lost Themes - John Carpenter

Now in!

If you're a fan of Carpenter's film scores, this is a must have! Not related to any film, this is just John Carpenter producing music for the sake of producing music! Although, listening to it just makes you want to watch The Thing, The Fog, Escape From New York, Halloween....

Oh, and £4 cheaper than amazon... :)

Monitor Audio Gold Range 2015

Monitor Audio's new Gold range has started to trickle through ahead of the Bristol Hi-Fi Show where they will be make their first hi-fi show appearance in full. Crossover and driver improvements have improved detail and soundstaging, amongst other things.

Below is a pic of the Ebony finish Gold 100 standmount model, which are now in store and available for demo, along with the Gold 50.

Hi David, are there going to be new Gold FX speakers ?

Rega Research / Classe / Bowers & Wilkins
Rega's RP10 will be fronting a system hosted by B&W, comprising of Classe's new Sigma electronics and an as yet undecided pair of B&W loudspeakers.
Will this be using the Sigma SSP optional phono stage? Thinking of getting a TT and getting the Classe phono for my CP800 which is the same as what goes in the Sigma.

Not sure on that yet - it may be a Rega Aria, as they go really well with their decks.

Naim Audio NAC-N272 Streaming Pre-Amplifier

Naim Audio have released a big brother to the NAC-N172xs streaming pre-amplifier - the NAC-N272. Ideally suited to the NAP200 and NAP250 power amplifiers, the N272 is ideal for those wanting pre/power performance, streaming capabilities, and DAC facilities, whilst keeping box count to a minimum.

Unlike the N172, the performance of the N272 can be enhanced with a dedicated power supply like the XPS. Sporting three optical, two coaxial, and one BNC digital input, the 272 provides plenty of connectivity for digital sources, allowing replay of files up to 24/192. A digital BNC output is also provided. There are also two RCA analogue inputs (one of which has a 5pin-din alternative), as well as two pairs of RCA analogue outputs (both with 4pin-din alternatives).

The NAC-N272 also features a Class A headphone amplifier.

The NAC-N272 is on demonstration now at Frank Harvey Hi-Fi.

Rega RX Loudspeakers

Rega Research have replaced their longstanding RS range of loudspeakers with the more substantial RX range. Improvements include 18mm thick MDF cabinets, which will offer Cherry, Black Ash, and Walnut real wood veneers. The fabric grilles covering the side firing bass drivers are now flush with the cabinet, giving them a simpler, cleaner look. All new drivers complete the package.

Common to all the models are the ZRR HF unit, and the 125mm DX125 mid/bass driver, which feature in the two-way RX1 standmount speaker. The floorstanding models are both 2.5-way designs. The RX3 adds side firing RR125.8 bass drivers, and the RX5 adds side firing RR7.8 bass drivers.

RX1 £798 / pair

RX3 £1298 / pair

RX5 £1698 / pair

The full Rega RX range is available for demonstration in store.

Over the past few months, our vinyl store has expanded. This has been fuelled by increasing demand for titles old and new, and whilst our catalogue may not compete with more established record stores who have been around for decades, we have more choice than local stores like HMV.

We also stock a number of film soundtracks.

So, is it that you are becoming 800 series dealers when they announce the new range on the 9th?

KEF Muo

KEF have launched the Muo - a wireless Bluetooth (4.0 aptX) speaker which has obviously been inspired by the Muon (same designer, Ross Lovegrove). The Muo has a 10 metre range and up to 12 hours battery life, and handily charges via 5v USB, which cuts out the inconvenience of taking multiple, bulky plug chargers on trips or holidays.

The Muo uses two 50mm full range drivers and an auxiliary bass radiator (housed in a high quality aluminium case) to reproduce its big soundstage, and you can also set two up in stereo mode for improved performance, as well as party mode.

A sensor inside the speaker alters the output depending on whether it is being used vertically or horizontally.

Available in 5 colours...

Hi David

Looking for a subwoofer to complement two Monitor Audio RS6 floors ganders and a RS LCR recently bought here from a member. Would use it for music and TV at an even split.

Firing them through an Onkyo TR609, the seating position is about 10 ft away from the speakers / TV.

Was thinking an SVS ... any suggestions or bargains about?

Cheers

Sameer
