    Hi Everyone,

I wonder if any of you may be able to throw a little light on this subject, if for example you wanted to put 3 recordings first one 1 hr,second 1 hr, third one half an hour on to a 2hr disc totaling 2.5 hours, what would happen if you put them all into timer set on FR. Obviously you could do the first one @ SP setting, then the second at LP and the last as SP, but is the machine able to optimise the recording setting over the 3 programmes to achieve the best result????, has anyone tried it?

The timer wont allow it. It will set the first program up as FR and record in 1 hour mode and list the others as a '!' under disk space saying that there will not be enough room. The only way to work this is to set the first two up as you suggest and the last program up as FR to use up the remaining space.

You can do it with the hard disk HS2. Put the three programs on the HD using XP and then dubb the three to DVD-R and select FR as the mode. Works for me. Three half hour episodes of Peter Kay on one disk at FR = superb picture quality!

Yup, works because it is done as one recording. Not three seperate recordings.
