I was until yesterday considering a purchase from JL ,but then I discovered their 5 year warranty does NOT include a New for Old replacement guarantee.

I’m now considering a purchase with Comet online for £1430

But FYI , check out domgen.com as I’ve just been quoted £171 for a five year warranty which DOES include New for Old (that’s about £40 cheaper than ED who also use Domestic and General and £200 cheaper than Comet (no surprise there!!)

this works out at £1600 which would be more than JL price match but with the added cover of New for Old , this price is cheaper than ED with their quoted £209 for 5 year's cover and £200 cheaper than sony shop(with 5 year) and comet instore without any extra cover

    Discover about warrenty

As this what I have on my agreement

I was told they didn't do new for old by a LJ saleman in Bristol

    now that is strange !

    I stand corrected abviously ,
still worth checking out Domestic and general online anyway instead of these rip off's that some retail stores provide

do you still recommend this TV ?

Yes I like the FQ80 very much, much better than the FX66 i had before. As it got better picture and more in dept colour and stuff. Even though Mine is being swapped over next week due to some slope and bends.

Well When i ask about the warrenty I was assured that if my tv can not be repaired I get another.

Well it down on my papers so if they argue I just show the papers.

All I can say if it was not for the bends and the slope on the right hand side when watching wide screen films and sky sports when there logo is on the far end i tend to notice this and the enginerr that came says it should not be as bad as it is on my tv if it was not for those this set is brillent much better than FX66

    Looks Nicer
    Picture is far much better
    Colour is very good
Everything really that appears on screen is very clear and crisp much better. Well worth the extra in my view now that I have DRRC50 which I use sometime if there are bad compression in some programs.

I get replacement this week hoping well it be great

    Hi Mansell..
thought i'd ask u as you seem to have had your fair share of problems with the set.. But knowing you had one or two now from reading the previous threads can u tell me...

with a Panasonic 32PB50 tell me what the quality is like when watching video tapes? As from what i have seen a normal 50htz set looks beter at this task than the 100htz sets i was looking at.

i know the PB50 has Prog scan (50 htz mode) and does this make a difference in watching tapes or not, as i found most 100htz to be grainy and a bit blury at this task comparring the picture to a normal 50htz set which is as clear as the soucre will allow it to be (i.e. i realise video will not be nowhere nearly as good as DVD playback etc...) .

Also whats the PB50 like with FOOTBALL? and does the DDM and PROG scan make a difference here or not?

And does this set suffer the WIDE ANGLE LENSE like effect in "Just" mode like the PL1 does or not when the camera pans left to right?

    Thanx Mansell..

Hope your new sony is spot on for you in the future when u get it.
I too would like that set but its too expensive for me. Anyway i'm stuck with vouchers for Currys so have no choice but to spend them there! (bugger!)
looking to spend 1400.00 max really.

Been looking at the Toshiba 32Zd26 (100htz) and the 32Z23b (50htz)

And also the Panasonic 32PB50 and 32PL1 (50htz)

But although i like the Toshiba 32Zd26 it sufferes from the muoire effect Checkered patterns on the edges of most pictures and this put me off it.

    thanx Mansell for your help.
