foxsathdr - usb port

I had a foxsathdr installed a couple of weeks ago and so far it has been OK but I have now tried using the USB port and I have hit problems.

I am having trouble copying photos in via the usb port and also with copying video out. I am using a 2Gb San Disk memory stick formatted to FAT32.

In both cases (photos in and video out) I am able to get the copying to commence but it always comes up with a fail before everything is tranferred. On checking I find that some of the photos have been loaded in OK or part of the video has been transferred. I have checked the latter by downloading through my PC.

Am I doing something wrong or do I have a faulty hdr? I don't think it is the memory stick as I've used it with my computer without any problems.

The foxsat is known to have problems with the chip sets in some usb sticks. This usually causes the foxsat to not recognise the stick format though.

Can you try another stick ?

Graham,

Many thanks. At the moment I only have the one memory stick but I will see if I can borrow a friends and try that. If that gives me the same result is it reasonable to assume that the hdr is faulty?

It sounds like it might be. I have never had a failure of a transfer using several usb sticks and also a usb powered 256Gb HDD. You could try the other usb port on the rear.

Incidentally you can play photos directly from the usb drive so that would be a good test.

There's a 1920 x 1080 jpg here you can test playing from USB

And also a short SD video clip that should also play from usb (You need all 3 files)

Graham,

I tried 2 new memory sticks and they both worked fine. I tried my original again and it failed. I think that answers the problem.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi Gordon

Thanks for your thanks :D Must say I am surprised that such a well known make did not work. AFAIK yours is the first posting on any forum where the transfer started and subsequently failed. Very interesting
