I would just hand it into the police or lost property department for that building. :)

Ah what the hell... stick it on ebay, sell it and get yourself some beer vouchers!!!

the battery died so cant even try my sim to see if any numbers are acrtually on the phone

I would hand it in to the police station ( the local one). You might block the sim and they would be of no use to them or you.

if its in your works car park then send out an e-mail to everyone, or hand it in at reception.....

The Police are useless, they will probably chuck it in lost property, as if they give a monkeys to power the phone up and try and find out who's it is...If it looks like an expensive phone, buy a charger and charge it up, and see if you can get past the PIN, then if you can find out who's it is just charge them for the charger...also try taing the batter out and see if there is an identification stickers, if you have access ot a UV light then put it under that...

Exactly!!! Police have admitted as much to me, when I lost a mobile last year.

So... a send all message as suggested would probably be the best thing to do right now....

... you could also email or ask around for an appropriate charger, charge up, insert your sim, check internal address book for "home", "mum/dad" etc, if sim not recognised, then its a locked phone, so remove - shouldn't really affect your sim.

I might try getting a charger for it ( had my g/f not dumped me last week , she has one lol )
A mass email is impossible lol there are thousands n thousands who work at the beeb lol

Auntie eh?!!
You've got to check out that address book then !!! :D

Hi,

Hand in the phone, and ask the Reception team to place a note at reception, asking if anyone has lost a mobile in the car-park recently, and if they have, to contact XXXX.

Leave your contact details, so that if the rightful owner comes along, they can then (hopefully) thank you, for being an honest person. :)

Don't start trying to access the phone numbers, texts, etc to see who the phone belongs to. It's an invasion of that person's privacy! :lesson:

If the person was a visitor rather than employee then most likely that they will never claim it. If address book can be accessed then its the best bet for a speedy resolution and its not really major invasion of privacy to flick down a list of names that mean nothing to do someone a favour. I don't think texts are usually accessible with a different sim (and if they were, yes it would be an invasion of privacy - so DON'T read them!).

theres always porn man, a friend of mine found a phone in newquay once with tons of pics of the owners, or girlfriend of owners naked body.. if anything it will encourage you to find the person who lost it!

My girlfriend lost her handbag once and the person who picked it up rang the last number dialled (so didnt look through phone book) and said excuse me the person whos phone this is has left her handbag behind, do you live near blah blah so i can drop it off to her? i think she had the best way of doing it.... shoulda charged her for using up me her free minutes though :p
