    Looking through all AV Forums Questions and Answers provides a very stimulating, controversial and important guide. However, I get very confused with the various and frequently used abbrevations. Perhaps at the start of each Forum a listing of most commonly used abbrevations, and their respective meanings be listed. For new Forum users (I'm one!!) this really would be very helpful.

    What do you think??!!

    Surely you mean WDYT :)

    Not a bad idea. TBH I sometimes have to ask myself what the fudge? and AFAIK others may also have this problem. BTW there is no shame in admitting being confused from time to time LOL. With all this talk of VB and SDE ot can all get very confusing

    TTFN (that's what Tiggers say)

    EDIT: IMHO (I forgot this one)

    I think it's a very good idea, ignore the flippant replies. Let's start a list, beginning with the most obvious...

    LCD = Little Coloured Dots

    DLP = Doesn't Like Panning

    HTPC = Happy Times Parameter Changing

    SCART = Sorry Cable After Rough Treatment

    DVI-D = Dodgy Video Increasing Distance

    HDMI = Hardly Dare Mentioning It

    LUMENS = Let Us Make Everthing Nice 'n Shiney

    Anyway, enough for now, I'm going to :rtfm:

    Cheers...PJ

    Oh come on, lighten up ! :)

    Maybe if you gave us one or two examples of abbreviations you find confusing, we would know where to start ?

    Most of us use abbreviations to save typing, not to look smart.

    Didn't say you were smart to use abbreviations - and yes, I am "en" lightened, thought the question was quite straight forward!

    Two seconds googling found this...

    http://www.email-software.org/email-acronyms.htm

    and this...

    http://emoticonuniverse.com/tech/atech/

    Somehow asking about acronyms always brings out the funny side of people, and I for one like it that way. This would be a very tedious forum without any humour...PJ

    PS so LCD isn't Little Coloured Dots then? :D

    Excuse me sir. Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT, because if it leaks to the VC, you could end up an MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP. :laugh:
