Thanks as always for an honest review. Haven't seen this for a long time & based on what Simon wrote will definitely want to watch it again, but only when it becomes available for Rent on iTunes with the Autumn Atmos upgrade

I fall into the camp of think this is an amazing movie. Heartfelt, uplifting, mesmerising at times. A simple tale beautifully told through the eyes of a simple man. It's also incredibly sad at times, so its a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Great to see it on UHD, and definitely one for the collection.

I always look forward to the movie reviews on this forum and this one was no exception..

      Cheers, Si. Good read.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to dodge this one. Shame because I waited with high hopes.

Seems like an incremental upgrade - bar a couple of exceptions. Difficult to justify the expense on some of these discs.

Surprised this only got an 8 for the movie itself, I'd say it's an easy 10. It's one of the most wonderfully inventive, original, and creative pieces of film making in Hollywood history. It's a modern fairy tale, perfectly cast and directed by one of Hollywood's greatest talents.

Wonderful score too from Zemekis' long time collaborator Alan Silvestri.

The iTunes version is already 4K DV, but of course Atmos won't arrive until TVOS 12 later in the year.

Saying this film has an audience that falls into two categories, you could say that for virtually every film ever made.

The fact that it rates as the 12th highest ranked film on IMDB tells me that the majority fall into the camp that loved it!

Personally very happy I upgraded from the noisy, dated old Blu-ray master. It's obviously not perfect, and I'd have liked to see more careful (restrained...) use of DNR, but one of the bigger upgrades in my collection that I could spot within a few seconds of the movie playing, as opposed to spending time zoomed in on a/b comparison screencaps on my monitor just to find someone's pores look a bit more defined on a "reference" 5/5 2K upscale.

Comparison video. 4K UHD looks like a massive step up in detail and colours over the 1080p Blu-ray.

The protest to me in 4k seems less defined the ban the bomb NOW doesn't seem as clear on the 4k.
I don't know if the blu was over processed but on my monitor the 4k seems to have a green tint to the picture.
Can one of you experts explain?

Think this uhd has been unfairly reviewed. Finished watching this movie today and saw a big increase in detail and colour. Loved the movie still and made me realise I should watch this more often.
