Looks like Forest Gump is coming out Stateside on 12th June on 4k Blu ray!

Paramount really are releasing some great catalogue titles this year!

I honestly dont know how I did not wet myself the first time I saw this.
Really good film on so many levels. Funny, heart warming, charming, sad and a technical master piece.

I saw the blu ray.com review and it did'nt sound much of an upgrade. Maybe its just Paramounts mastering work is not as good as Sony and WB.

All reviews except for the Paramount sponsored ones are berating this. So passing.

Watch Forrest Gump first, wanna know what you think :D

I mean maybe this isn't a great looking disc, which is a shame as it's easily in my top 3 films, but I don't get why people suddenly put so much stock in Blu-ray.com's reviews when they've given out some pretty dubious scores in the past. I know there have been other negative reviews, but there were some pretty positive ones as well. The Blu for this isn't as bad as I thought it was, especially for such an old disc, but I'll be very disappointed if this somehow ends up looking worse. Shame if it hasn't been given the treatment it deserves though, especially as I believe it had a nice new master for a recent anniversary cinema re-screening in the States.

Well maybe I'm just easy to please, but I watched this tonight and it was like watching it for the first time again. Would I have liked a bit more grain structure? Yes, in parts it does end up looking unusually 'clean' more akin to a modern film (some of the American Football shots, the Army officer trying to recruit Forrest to name a couple of standout ones, not looked at the Blu to compare), but I'll tell you what, this 4K UHD absolutely blows the Blu-ray away in every other respect. It's always looked dated to me and this UHD disc only highlights that further. And there is a lot of nice, crisp detail here, 'smudgy' is not really a term I'd use here when you watch this in motion.

This is pretty much my favourite film, so there is possibly some bias there, but if this is one of your favourites, I highly recommend you give this disc a chance, even if you're gonna wait for a price drop. Either way, I wouldn't pay much attention to "2.5 out of 5" video scores and such like, because that's an insult to all the positives about this transfer, which far outweighs the negatives imo. 3.5/5 is the absolute minimum I'd give this for the worst scenes (purely for the DNR), more like a 4 overall and possibly reaching 4.5 in the best scenes.
