    Hi All,

I have recently purchased an 02 Ford Focus Zetec. The Key Fob seems to be problematic, it will lock the car and open the boot, but the 'unlock' button does not work. Do I need a new key fob? If so, will I need to go through Ford? Or can I purchase a fob on eBay, and find someone to programme it?

    Thanks.

The fob is ok only the micro switch ( for the isticukar command) is faulty.
Any repair shop will fix it for around £10 or do.

Stop pushing the button hard! It's not a remote :p

Try and get it fixed but if worst comes to worst then get another one off of flea bay and its easy to program it by yourself. Its in the manual or just google it, but its something like turn the ignition on and off 4 times in 6 seconds and then press lock on the fob.

I've fixed a few of the type used with late 1990s Fords. With these, remove the back cover and then prise the PCB assembly out of the top cover. The push button matt should remain in the top cover. Check that the "fingers" on the PCB (where the conductive pad on the back of the buttons touch) are clean. You will probably find they are dirty or greasy. Carefully wipe these clean with an alcohol wipe, then reassemble the unit. In most cases, this should fix the problem.

And as Ajex says, change the battery while you are at it.

    HTH,

Don't think it's a battery issue because all of the functions work apart from the unlock function. Wish it was a 99p fix though! :(
