    Hi,

This may be very very simple to someone??

    I have a Panasonic DMR-E50 dvd-ram recorder.
If I program it to record on DVD-R, all works fine
If I program it to record on a ram disc (which i have formatted), it doesnt work, and when I return the display says "UNFORMAT" and disc info says unformatted disc
If I press the "record now" and record whatever I am watching, all works fine.
I have eliminated to possibility of having a faulty disc, I am definitely formatting the disc first, what on earth is wrong - is it the player thats is faulty?

Any words of advice much apprecatiated...

    Tony

Yea, I even got a new ram disc in a protective caddy to make sure.

It just works differently if I program instead of press "record now". I would conclude there is something wrong with the machine, except that everything is fine if I do record instantaneously - I can edit, make playlists, everything..

I am hoping it is some simple error on my part...

Why do you format new RAM discs. I have used more than 50 new RAM discs and I haven't ever formatted any of them.

If I re-use one that has been recorded on previously, I just delete the existing programmes and re-record.

The only disc that I have ever formatted has been the Hard Disc, I find it advantageous to do that occasionally, I have a DMR100.

I don't understand why you feel the need to format a new RAM disc, it isn't necessary.

Well I would suggest you try using them without formatting them. It is worth a try just to see if it makes a difference.
