Pressure from my 10 year old - hells bells, does the spending never stop:rolleyes:

This is an upgrade from the original, but does anyone know of any good deals or decent suppliers who are not going to break the bank.

Probably not a god idea to have rand theft auto vice city as part of any package!!

The best High St place to get a PS2 is probably Woolies - £169 for the console and a recent game (I got Ratchet & Crank which is probably more appropriate for your young 'un than The Getaway).

On the web I think Play is probaby best - £149 - can't remember if they're bundling it with anything.

Remember to add on the cost of a memory card...

yeah and an extra controller, this takes a ps2 at £149 to £189 and looking around just about everywhere does ps2 + 2 pads + memery card + game for £199.

you could walk into your video shop at 10pm and get this deal, choices and blockbuster are both doing it.

OR save some cash and buy one S/H slightly more risky but better value or just buy a GC and have a better machine.:D

I'd wait a little while prices are about to go down with the advent of the revised Priogressive Scan PS-2 coming out in the next 2-3 months.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you guys - I was away most of last week on business.

Your comments are very much appreciated - unfortunately in my absence, my other half (note I haven't said better!) gave in, and bought a PS2 at Comet - they had a deal on for £200 with two games and a pack which included a console stand and extra controller.

I personnally would have hung on for this prog scan PS2, but it was jher credit card that paid for it and not mine so there we go.

    Anyway, many thanks again

Don't be too hard on her, I dream of the day that I get back from a trip and as I walk in the door my wife says

"Hi honey, I bought a new console while you were away"

    or

"you're back come through and see the new 60" plasma I treated myself to"

that **** just isn't going to happen in this house :D

    A progressive scan PS-2?
Is that a UK machine and will it do progressive on Pal DVDs?
Anyone know where there is more info on this?

Yeah what's all this about a prog scan ps2?
The original one does prog scan through component- it's only in certain games though, see the faq on this forum. I can confirm prog scan works on my projector and Tekken 4

Now if there's a new PS2 that does prog scan on pal dvds (or even has a dvd output that comes anywhere near the quality of a decent dedicated player), I'd be interested in hearing more

do a search for info on the 5000 and 5001 model ps2's, they are already out in Japan , and next month in the states.

from reports I have heard they are nearly silent now as well, wich is worth the asking price alone :)

yeah the progressive is from dvd, whether this will be on the pal machine I dont know.
