For sale Parasound C2 pre AV amp controller and iScan VP50 scalar in excellent condition for £600, three small faint scratches on the top of VP50. C2 in mint condition, includes the original box, microphone, main remote and manual for the C2. VP50 unit, remote control, no original boxes.

Missing side kick remote for C2, below is a link to the specs of the C2 and VP50:

    http://www.parasound.com/vintage/c2.php
    http://www.dvdo.com/documents/DVDO/V...7_ADud_web.pdf

C2 has excellent sound and is especially musical, was very highly regarded at the time, won numerous awards and cost over £2500.

VP50 one of the best 1080P scalars, makes standard def look almost HD and has 4 HDMI 1.3 assignable inputs, component inputs etc, cost £1500 at the time.

With this combination you get full HDMI switchable inputs on one channel upscale to 1080P, can convert 1080i (for example Sky HD signal) to 1080P, beats any 1080 based internal scalar, whilst the C2 handles all the sound. For example have PS4 connected by HMDI only to VP50. VP50 process the picture and passes the sound to C2 to decode.

C2 cannot decode latest codec's, but can accept analogue 7.1 so you can get DTS HD etc decoded via external source.

I am the only owner of both units, C2 bought in 2006 and VP50 in 2009.

Selling together as a single item for £600.

Would prefer buyer to collect or meet up as the C2 unit is quite large / heavy.

    Price and currency: 600
Delivery: Delivery cost is not included
    Payment method: Cash / BT
    Location: London

The Parasound is a lovely thing and I genuinely hope you can find a buyer this time (you could do a lot worse than post a picture of it's arse, BTW). Perhaps people are forgetting how well-regarded they are with 'mere' two-channel content (?). Anyway, not why I'm here. If it comes to it, and it might, you could do a lot worse than offer me the DVDO in this thread:

Wanted - DVDO VP30 Scaler (or possibly an Edge). | AVForums

At some sort of price for me to have a think about.

(I'm glad your recent posting issue seems sorted anyway.)

    Cheers,
    Mike.

yep I can say the unit is excellent at 5.1 and 2 channel (can do 7.1) and you would have to spend a lot of money even today (2k plus) to beat the sound. A real pre amp that has excellent AV capabilities and stereo sound. The only downside is no DTS decoding which means you have to use a external decoder so you get no base management, hence the reason why I am selling. If only parasound would do a C3:).

For now I will wait and see if I can sell as a single item, they complement each other perfectly. if no luck then I will think about selling the VP50, for now have posted some pictures of the VP50.

    Hi Flimber,

I will sale my VP50 separately for 220 delivered, or you can pick up for 200. Will cost me around 20 pounds to send by parcel force insured. If you know a cheaper way then I can of course reduce the postage costs:).

    Separate costs delivery not included:

    £200 for VP50
    £400 for C2.

Note the VP50 does not have original box or instructions. It comes with the remote control and power lead. Unit itself has some very faint marks as mentioned before.

Let me know if you are interested.

Are you saying it doesn't decode dts as found in standard dvd and dts core from blurays?

    Hi Reedp54,

Would you accept £300 for C2?
I live in London and I could collect it.

    Regards
    Chris

Sorry no 400 is the lowest I will go.

It decodes DD , DTS / DTS core etc does not do DTS HD, i.e the lossy HD audio formats. So if you wanted the lossy audio formats you would need a blu ray player which can decode and connect via the analog inputs on the C2. This is what I used to do with my pioneer BD51 to get DTS HD.

As mentioned DD, DTS are decoded internally within the unit.

    Thanks for the confirmation.

    Think you meant lossless.:)

£400 its little bit too much for me. I know that this is very good pre, but it needs to good quality power amp therefore a few times more to spend. Also taking in consideration that it is discontinued.

    yep your right lossless:).

In Stereo this is excellent I would say even better than the CX-5000 which I now have. Just misses out on the lack of HDMI and no bass control on analog. I really wanted the C3 but Parasound pulled the plug on that Unit.

As for being discontinued I think this really is not an issue as the build and reliabilty are excellent. Parasound are still going strong and in the US had a warrenty for 10 years on this unit at the time. Although in UK the warrenty has now passed (10 years only in the US) it speaks volumes that a company would have a 10 year warrenty on a product. Once of the reasons I bought it at the time.

I would say you really do need a good amp, I had this connected to the A51 and all I can say is this made it sing:).
