Is this the one that's written by the people who used to do the other one ? (sorry can't remember the name). What's the gameplay like in these kind of games, as I think I may be interested but not sure.

Im a massive CM fan and loved the demo of FM2005 I got a few months back - ordered this from play £17.99  on Sunday so hoping it will come either today or tomorrrow - of course with Halo2 just around the corner it might just have to wait a while until it plays ..

Id be interested to hear if anyone has picked up any superstars yet - you know the unkonwns, the sambas of CM4, the Mads Jorgenssen of older CM games .. any gems uncovered yet ?

Aha, so there's a demo of this game then. Time to try it out I think.

Yeah it's by Sports interactive who used to do the Champ Manager series. Can't say i've been into them myself although I bought my mate this for his birthday last week so i'll see what he thinks about it. Generally the gameplay is very indepth - you control most things about the footie club including how you deal with the media etc as well as obviously detailed team formations & strategies, player signing & development etc. The gameplay is very realistic and the experience is as close as you can come to becoming a footie manager on a Computer. There's a demo of this available if you want to try before you buy.

I've had every CM version since the original.

And this is by far the best. The interface is confusing to experienced CM players for about 5 mins, but then it all seems to click.

Very good game. I haven't scratched the surface of it, but it seems to be the hardest game yet. (Or is it just that the Sunderland squad in this game are the worst one yet? )

My only concern is the 'background processing' doesn't seem to make any difference. Not that I care too much - it runs fantastically well on my Dell 9100 laptop.

Oh, one more concern. Can this be run in a window? I haven't managed to find that option anywhere...

The only potential superstars I have found so far is Freddy Adu, some little American kid. Im in my fourth season now (Im horribly addicted), hes 18/19 and already worth 9 million, I havent even played him in the league yet!

Also you can buy Scott Parker if you have £3million or so hanging around from Chelsea.

I dont have any other tips, still getting used to the layout which is doing my head in as I cant find somethings that were in the old one!

Along with good old Adu, Fabio Paim (sporting lisbon) is still good, so is Alessio Cerci (Roma) (both free at the start of the game)

    How did you get Adu?

He failed to get a work permit when I tried to buy him...

And I have heard that he is VERY good in real life. Which is why I explicitly looked for and tried to sign him...

This was by far the best part of the CM series and Im sure will be for the FM series now - its great to pickup an unknown and then in 5 years time he is a complete superstar ...

Oh on a seperate note did anyone take part in this your chance to be an FM2005 legend .. or donkey I suppose :)

it's the follow up to CM4 and CM03/04

the name has changed because Eidos, the publishers and SIGames the programmers split up. Eidos had the rights to the name and SIGames had the rights to the game code.

So Football Manager 2005 is the true CM
and Championship Manager 5 is something new, and probably rubbish!

Does this game have a Premiership chairman who appears to be going for the record of "most managers in a single season"?? Or should that scenario be relegated (no jokes about SFC here, please) to the Fantasy League.....ah, no, it's not fantasy!

Still, it's fun winding up the Pompey supporters!

Posting seen on a Pompey fansite......

    From: Saints supporter

    Subject: I come in peace.....

    Your chairman is an ********:D

    And so is ours!

ah yes, i thought that was hilarious, that's would be as bad as alex ferguson quitting man utd and joining man city. i don't envy harry though.. he has to come back to fratton park at some point this season, and he's gonna have 20,000 people seething pure hatred in his general direction..
