Football games slow on PSP

I borrowed a black PSP from a friend and when i play football games such as PES 5 and FIFA 06 they seem to run really slow.

However, I have played FIFA 06 on the psp slim lite and it seemed to run a lot better

Is there a particular reason for this slowness?

I want to buy Virtua Tennis 3 which was really good. However, im worried it maybe slow like the other game

Perhaps they're just bad translations? I've not had a problem with Fifa 08.
