Woke up this morning and suddenly my TV has gone to this:

What the hell is this and how do i fix it? Does it need degaussing?

It is 14 months old and I have spoken to Hyperfi where I bought it and they have said to turn it off for a few hours and then back on and there should be a big click and it should then be okay. Sadly this has not worked yet - still like the above mess!

I dont have any unshielded speakers near it - its been the same setup since i bought it. However last night i charged up my nikon camera battery using a socket near the left of the tv and on the right side left my paper fax machine (unplugged and not used)!

Any help gratefully received!

Never a good idea to watch your TV outside in the rain. Sunshine and showers always cause this affect. :D :rotfl:

Only it being a Sony means no shadow mask doesn't it?

So What Does It Mean to Have a Trinitron CRT?

Trinitron is a CRT technology developed by Sony. The patent has recently expired and therefore other manufacturers are free to offer similar CRTs. The CRT uses a set of fine vertical wires called an aperture grill instead of a steel shadow mask to separate the R, G, and B electron beams and force them to strike only the appropriate colored phosphors. This in conjunction with an in-line set of electron guns is supposed to provide a brighter image with simpler convergence and purity adjustments....

i been told that

a) my fax DC motor has magnets...
b) a hairdrier works like a degaussing wand...

any views mate?

Sorted - hairdried it then left it in standby for an hour or so and back on with a click. Now its working well again - phew must keep that fax machine away from the tv!

Sorry was in a less than humourous mood.

Have now scheduled to laugh at your joke subject to it being humourous - dont hold your breath! :D
