I have just seen a video on MTV by a group called Queens of the Stoneage. The drummer looks very much like the singer from Foo Fighters, even the tattoos! Am I missing somthing here or what. Does he play for both bands??

Yes.
Dave Grohl is in both bands.
I think he was only a 'guest' drummer in QOSA

Dont get me started, if you buy it never put it in your car cd, never play it after midnight and never ever ever press the play button as it will self install and you will be unable to remove it.

The man in question is Dave Grohl ex Nirvana drummer, ex Foos guitarist singer and now awesome drummer for QOTSA.

Its great, best album I have listened to this year.

isn't Dave still with the Foo Fighters?

If you like the Queens you should give KYUSS a try. This is the former band of Queens singer/guitarist Joshe Homme and psycho bassist Nick Oliveri. A tad heavier but very very groovesome.
Definately one for after midnight!

Now I am lost, who is Tenacious D and what sort of stuff do they play?

Tenacious D are Jack Black and Kyle something, don't remember his name. They are a **** take Rock band with some of the funniest songs I've heard for ages. I thouroughly reccommend their new album "Tenacious D" if you have a sense of humour!
They had a single out a little while ago called "Tribute (to the greatest song in the world)"

Yes have got BFARS. It is vastly under rated. Contains some of the most BASS heavy riffs known to man. This will give your sub, if used in a conventional stereo setup, a severe pounding. Even better is Sky Valley, a classic album.

Thanks for the reply, I shall aquire promptly.

Sub in my stereo set up, heresy. No self respecting system should be burdened with the lumpy slow sub. Bass should be fast as chisels.

;)

Well my speakers don't have very good bass, Mission 773e, but could be due to positioning - corner of the room setup. The sub, Paradigm PDR10( can you tell I'm a Richer's fool) adds that little bit extra whoooomph.....Anyway if you like fast bass you must be a Level 42 fan..

Dave G plays drums on the new QOTSA album and will play some dates with them this year. The Foos are still together (They had better be anyway!)
He does play a lot of Tenacious D's stuff and he appeared as the devil in the video for 'Tribute'

Urrrr, have to admit to owning one album  that does not qualify me as a fan.

Yep, corner of room can cause all sorts of probs. as can equidistant from side walls. You can get nodes developing, but this is more for the hifi forum.

Bass on the other hand should be felt, not heard. The booming you can hear on albums is closer to mid range and if its overblown it detracts from the music and rythmn.

Fast as chisels is an adaption of the Captains album Trout Mask Replica ( get your head around his music and you find it difficult to return to normal stuff, everything after Beefheart sounds boring )

It's Kyle Gaus. Karkus, see my Tenacious D thread (it's still on this page I think). This album is a rock classic, as well as the talking skits being funny as. I don't want the spiral dude, I want the double F. On the back of my neck or top of my arm?

Bought the oakenfold CD, its great. Now I have to buy Tenacious D, this is going to start costing me if Im not careful.
Not into Tats myself, all looks a bit permanent and painful to me, also when going for interviews they tend to stand out, unless well hidden and rightly or wrongly you get judged on your appearance.
Cool for rockstars though.

And I'm tptal rock star material:D So top of the arm then, I agree that I might get judged for having one on the back of my neck:rolleyes: Or I can just wait untill I join a vampire's house to get one there al la Blade:D
And it might cost you money, but you'll be gaining so much more in musical enrichment...
