Picked up a DV27A the other day to replace my Denon 2900 but have noticed that it fails to read the CD-layer of almost all of my 10+ hybrid SACD discs  .
That includes some of the resent Dylan-releases, Simple Minds "New Gold Dream" and The Cardigans "Long Gone Before Daylight". It will read Depeche Mode "101" though..

The display just shows -loading- for 20 seconds or so, and then -bad disc-.
This can't be right or, anyone else with this problem?

    The soft/firmware is 5.8/LT76.

    regards

Try setting the disc preference to DVD-Video as opposed to DVD-Audio, does that help?

Thank you for the tip cybersoga, didn't help though :( .

My dealer is going to get the discs with new soft/firmware next week, maybe that'll fix the problem.

My original DV27, not A, does the same with one of the two SACDs I have, if I switch the player off then on again it works, not a big problem as I dont intend to buy many SACD discs...

? Hang on, what have I missed here? I thought that the DV27a would chew up and spit out SACD? Do they work then in some kind of weird and wonderful way?

Nice to know. So you can bully an Arcam into doing what you want.:)

Not really. It's just with hybrid SACD discs (discs that contain SACD & PCM (PCM as in standard CD's)) it should play the CD layer.

Perhaps you can copy the cd layer on a pc and burn it on a CDR?

I'm afraid the player is going back to the dealer this coming week...
The behaviour described earlier are also present with some of the pure red book discs I fed it.
It will also flip-out during playback from time to time, fast forwarding
    and freezing, distorted sound etc.

There may be something wrong with the laser or transport mechanism because the sound it makes now and then, even with no disc in it, is not healthy.

    Hello again!

Thought I'd let you guys know..., got the player back a few days ago.
Drive was replaced and software/firmware is now 5.13/LT79, but most important; it now works a treat :) , seems to take everything I throw it.
Still breaking in, but the sound is indeed awesome, much better than the Denon on red book IMHO, but this is why I bought it ;)
