    Hi!

I have the opportunity to buy an FMJ CD23, the non text version. However, the CD23T doesn't only give text (for which I couldn't care less), but also some internal upgrades. I'd like to know if the CD23T is truly better than the CD23 or if it doesn't really make that much difference.

    Thanks!

    Hiya,

It might be worth trying to ask this on the Arcam Forum :)

I already did, before posting it here ;)
I thought I could maybe find people in this forum, that tested the players, but didn't buy it and not visit the Arcam forum.
Alas, nobody seems to know... :(

    OOOPS!!

I'd be interested in knowing as well as SH CD23s are a reasonable sort of price.

Mind you i'm thinking of going down the DAC path so I don't have a CD Player and a Universal player as well.

Well actually, SH CD23s are pretty hard to find I must say, especially in the Netherlands where I live. I can buy one now for 950 euros, that's like 600 pounds and it's 3 years old.

The reason I want a cdplayer is that copy protected cd's can give problems on my DV88+. Sarah McLachlan's Afterglow gives little cracks in the sound for instance...

hi there, why dont you copy your copy protected cd to a blank. Then play the newly copied version in your dv88+?

I have a dv88+ though and its played every cd I've ever tried (though not every dvd!!!)

Hi! It does play every cd, but will give some cracking noises during playback of some copyprotected cd's.
Copying cd's is no option. I don't like the idea of buying the original and having to copy it to listen to it normally.
Oh well.. In the view of upgraditis, I don't really mind buying a CD23 ;)

    Regards,
    Menno.

I used to have a CD23 and it had a truly awesome sound! With regard to which is better, I remember someone on here tested both and preferred the CD23 over the CD23T.

Not much help really am I

    Cheers,

    Steve

I read somewhere that Arcam only made the CD23T because Sony (or could be somebody else) stopped making the transport as used in the CD23. Apparently they sound about the same.
