    Hi,
I just got new home entertainment system with foolowing configuration:
    Samsung 40inch 1080p TV
Philips 5980 1080p upscalling DVD player
    SONY HTSF1100 Audio receiver:
    Linx HDMI cable

When I play my DVDs and send sound to and picture to TV, everything work fine.

But when I try to divert decoded sound to amp and send only picture (without sound) to TV, then the prictue flickers.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Hi - I've got a Samsung LE40M86BD LCD TV and a Philips DVP-5980 Upscaling DVD/DIVX player and I'm routing audio through coax to an AC3/DTS amp. I too have a flickering display problem, but only when I have the player set to 1080p. (I have no such problems with my Panasonic DMR-EX87 set to 1080p.)

I upgraded the firmware to the latest available release, 12.7.31.30, available from http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVP5980/05&scy=GB&slg=en but to no avail.

Incidentally, I'm now running a modified firmware available athttp://rapidshare.com/files/52464450/DVP5980_12_tech25.rar.html found posted at http://board.softpedia.com/index.php?showtopic=8736. It hasn't fixed the problem, but it does support long file names and enhanced support for subtitles...

I've set the player output to 720p for now...

I returned my Philips player and bought Sony NS78, everything now works fine.
